Pre or Hero?

HTC HeroThe long wait is almost over, as October 1st means I am fully upgrade eligible on Sprint.

Initially I was locked in to the Palm Pre after following it’s launch announcement earlier this year, but then the Hero was officially announced by Sprint a few weeks ago and I was immediately intrigued. Since then I’ve been going back and forth between the two phones.

A big deciding factor was going to be if the Hero could be activated on my SERO line. It would have been a no-brainer to pick the Hero, in that case. But, it looks like it won’t be eligible according to the new Hero splash page. Now, I am back to the drawing board.

So, Pre or Hero?

What needs to happen for me to get a Pre:

 1. A solid app store rollout tomorrow. I would be encouraged by a massive release of new apps and a solid plan for moving forward. It sounds like that could be the case, based on recent reports.
 2. Some kind of timeline for video recording.
 3. Love that the Pre costs less ($149 vs $179), but maybe a sale at Best Buy would make it even more enticing.
