No Questions!

According to Nicole Wallace of the McCain campaign, the American people don’t care whether Sarah Palin can answer specific questions about foreign and domestic policy. According to Wallace—in an appearance I did with her this morning on Joe Scarborough’s show—the American people will learn all they need to know (and all they deserve to know) from Palin’s scripted speeches and choreographed appearances on the campaign trail and in campaign ads.

How can one campaign show so much contempt for the American people?

Update:

It appears that Palin will ‘hole up in Alaska’ and take time off the campaign trail to begin her education. (Referred to as training.)  Seriously? There are less than 60 days to the election. Can they really say she is ready? Much less the whole ‘no interviews/questions for you!’ thing…

It really seems like the McCain camp is saying STFU to the press and the American people.

    Bada-bing!!!! Sour grapes. Face it, the dems were out manuvered. I suppose the lady will at least be diplomatic and not refer to a Russian Head of State as a "commie pig"

    Sour grapes, you're right... but it's the McSame campaign saying "I'm taking my ball and going home," because they don't like their VP being vetted in public.

    Saw a recent poll -- over 65% of Americans have no clue about Palin's past performance, her credentials as a 'reformer', or the scandals she is involved in... but almost 70% know about her daughter's pregnancy.

    Are those the kind of priorities Repubs value? The tabloid, half truth, spin-it-to-death stories? It sure seems like those are the ones they are pushing, because they have no where to stand on the real issues.

    I mean, what excites you about McCain? If you make under $250k per year, you'll get a better tax break; some kind of universal health care; more focus on the environment and alternative, renewable energies; focus on actually improving education (rather than a policy with a snappy name that doesn't do anything, like Bush); someone who actually understands the constitution and defends it; and someone who acknowledges that the economy is actually doing pretty poorly for a vast majority of Americans -- with Obama.

    Palin and McCain don't talk about those issues very much, because they can't compete. Their campaign manager even says so... it tells you a lot about the campaign, when both acceptance speeches didn't touch on very many key issues (McCain's) or none at all (Palin).
