John McCain speech at the National Small Business Summit today attempted to talk about the negatives of a Barack Obama economic plan, however there was a small problem. He exaggerated a number Obama’s positions. Luckily, Paul Krugman at the NY Times pointed this out in a today’s blog post.
McCain raised Obama’s Estate Tax rate by a whopping 10 percentage points (claiming 55%, while Obama’s plan is 45% with a $3.5 million exemption.) He also tried to convince the small business owners that Obama’s tax plan would raise taxes for 21.6 million sole proprietorships, however Krugman’s research lowered that number to 479,000 – or 2% of the total McCain claims.
How long until the media starts pounding McCain for these inaccuracies, exaggerations, and his multitude of flip flops on so many issues? I seem to remember they had fun with Kerry and Gore on these issues the last two Presidential cycles…
